Questions worth asking.
Is the pump actually openable, or does it just lift out?
It opens. The cover comes off by hand, the intake sponge slides out, and the impeller area is exposed and reachable. You can watch the whole routine in the video above. The motor inside stays sealed — that’s the electrical part and it isn’t meant to be opened.
How often do I really have to clean it?
Top up every few days. Rinse the filter and sponge weekly. Replace the filter and wash bowl, lid and spout every two weeks. Open the pump and brush around the impeller every two to three weeks. That’s the honest list.
Why does this cost more than a budget fountain?
Lower-priced fountains use different materials and different maintenance designs, and both are legitimate ways to build a product. Is it noisy?
The pump is rated under 30 dB. A whisper is around 40, so at a normal water level you have to be close to hear it at all.
Worth knowing what actually makes a fountain noisy, though, because it usually isn’t the motor. It’s the water running low, so the pump starts pulling air and rattling — or buildup around the impeller stopping it spinning cleanly. Both get louder the longer they’re left. Keep it topped up, keep the pump clean, and it stays quiet.
Is it dishwasher safe?
No. Maximum water temperature is 40°C, so everything is washed by hand. We’d rather say that than have you warp a lid.
